Road and traffic BIM model, TM4 junction, Changi East T5

Part of the advance works ahead of the T5 substructure at Changi East. TM4 is rebuilt in stages while the junction stays open, with the temporary arrangement and the permanent one modelled side by side.

Traffic management and temporary works

Each stage is modelled in the sequence it will be built: temporary alignment and lane closures, concrete barriers, temporary signs and traffic lights, security fencing and gates, and the temporary drainage that has to work for the duration of the stage. The staging is checked against the traffic management before a lane is closed.

Road corridor

Junction geometry and alignment, levels and crossfalls, kerbs and edge lines, rigid and flexible pavement, mill and patch to the existing carriageway, road markings and signs, street lights, CCTV, tree felling and turfing.

Drains and utilities

Gullies, chambers, pipe levels and outfalls, and the underground services diverted clear of the substructure footprint, modelled in three dimensions against the road formation.

Multidisciplinary coordination

Road, drainage, utilities, traffic and landscape come from different design offices in different formats and at different times. We bring them into one model on a common coordinate system and datum.

Clash control

Each discipline is checked against the others and every clash is closed with the office that owns it before excavation. Setting-out coordinates and finished levels are read from the model.
